"Now students, go out there and find that pumpkin! If we don't recast the spell by midnight, the school will be lost forever!" - Headmistress Cinderella, instructing her students to find the giant pumpkin
Pumpkins and Dragons is the twelfth episode of the first season of Regal Academy.
Synopsis[]
When Regal Academy turns back into a huge pumpkin patch, Rose and her team must find a rare, colossal pumpkin to recast the spell and save the school.[1]
Plot[]
As Rose is cleaning her granny's office, she notices the White Rabbit's pocket watch from Alice in Wonderland on her desk. She gives the watch a huggie, and it breaks; one part of the watch lands in her backpack and the other remains in her hands. When it is time to leave, she places part of the watch back on the desk and returns home.
The next morning, Rose is late for school and the other half of the pocket watch lands on her bedroom floor.
At Regal Academy, Rose's teammates notice that there are pumpkins all over the school. This is because Headmistress Cinderella must reuse her pumpkin magic from time to time in order to maintain the structure of the school, since the buildings are made from pumpkins.
Upon arriving at Regal Academy, Rose makes the realization that this is her fault, due to the pocket watch being her grandmother's way of reminding herself to use her magic to keep the school together. She confesses, and the teachers do not punish her.
In response to the pumpkins taking over the school, Headmistress Cinderella holds an assembly where she announces that whichever team finds a perfect pumpkin, one that is firm, one that does not explode, one that is not rotten, moldy, devoured by the pigs, or turned into pumpkin juice, will receive an "A" to replace the lowest grade of the semester.
Before they start, Alicia introduces herself to the teachers; she is the granddaughter of Puss in Boots and Headmistress Cinderella hopes she is as clever as he is. She does not have a team, but she is quickly put with Rad and Brad Charmingstein.
As the students are searching for the perfect pumpkin, Alicia tricks one of the dragons into giving her team a pumpkin, but Vicky sabotages her by casting a spell on one of the Charmingsteins, which causes one of them to fall asleep and other to lose control of the pumpkin. After which, the pumpkin falls down and splatters.
As for Rose and her team, Rose cannot use her pumpkin magic to summon a large pumpkin because she can only turn pumpkins into other things. In addition, the source of her magic comes from the Cinderella family dragon; and even she cannot give them a pumpkin.
Even if she could, she is furious over Rose's irresponsibility; and it is her job to destroy anyone who threatens Regal Academy, even if that person happens to be Rose, and even if she is next in line of the Cinderella family lineage.
As such, the Cinderella family dragon attempts to attack Rose and team. They go to the Dragon Arena and get on their mission dragons to fly away. As they are flying, Astoria explains that in order to escape the guardian dragon, they must leave Regal Academy because the guardian dragon remains at Regal Academy to protect the school and the gate.
Before they fly out of Regal Academy, Rose takes Alicia with them because she needs her to speak to her grandfather; and as they fly to town, they discover that Astoria is correct about the guardian dragon staying at Regal Academy.
Alicia speaks to her grandfather about finding the perfect pumpkin, which prompts him to tell the story of how he came across a large pumpkin. However, Alicia explains that she's already tried his trick and the dragons know about it. Afterwards, Puss in Boots explains that Cinderella pumpkin magic needs real pumpkins, which come from real seeds.
Rose already has real seeds, which are large enough to fix the school. The only issue is that they will take a long time to grow, but the solution is to talk to the Giant for help, whom gives them a special fertilizer to quickly grow giant pumpkins from the the giant seeds.
At Regal Academy, Headmistress Cinderella, Clara, and Rose fuse their powers together and restore Regal Academy. The episode concludes with everyone hugging each other.

Trivia[]
Although Alicia claims that she is a new student, she can be seen in previous episodes, and this is including the first episode. However, she may actually be referring to the fact that this is the first episode in which she has a role. For all previous appearances, she is in the background and does not have a line of dialogue.
This is Puss in Boots' third appearance in an episode. The first two were in "Revenge" and "Rose's Fairy Tale Collection."
This is the Giant's second appearance in an episode. His first is the episode "Astoria and the Beanstalk." His next appearance is in the episode "Vicky the Villain."
