Travis Beast is one of the two male main characters of Regal Academy. He is the grandson of the Beast. His love interest/girlfriend is Ling Ling IronFan.

Overview[]

Official Website[]

Travis is the typical frail artsy sort of boy, but when he gets angry he becomes… a real Beast! His force is huge and uncontrollable, so much that sometimes he puts his team in trouble! He also provides Humor.

Nickelodeon[]

On the surface, Travis seems like a sensitive artist. But at the drop of a slipper, he turns super strong and super shaggy! He gets it from his grandpa--the famous Coach Beast. When Travis isn’t using his magic to create hurricanes and tornadoes, he’s trying to create his next artistic masterpiece. Unfortunately, bad luck seems to get in his way. A lot and is usually the comic relief.

Appearance[]

He has short, messy, desaturated green-brown hair and yellow eyes. His uniform consists of a dark pink-collared dress shirt over a white long sleeve undershirt, a blue waistcoat with yellow buttons, a yellow and black necktie, a pair of jeans, and a pair of red boots. His main casual outfit consists of a white undershirt with a red flower symbol on the front, a red overcoat, blue jeans with a dark purple belt, and purple-and-white sneakers.

Personality[]

Travis is a very creative artist and visionary who would much rather paint a portrait or build a sculpture than follow in the footsteps of his family. He feels that living up to the Beast family legacy is a terrible burden. The students and staff at Regal Academy expect him to be tough and aggressive, but he is sensitive and hapless. He is sometimes ashamed of his beastly abilities, though when needed, he is eager to show it off.

Relationships[]

Rose Cinderella[]

Travis and Rose are friends and team mates. They both live on Earth and sometimes walk to school together, as they both have to travel through the magical portal located in some inconspicuous alleyway. Travis and Rose first met in “A School for Fairy Tales” where Rose bumps into Travis after hurriedly leaving the shoe store and when they are placed on the same Fairy Tale team. They become close enough to comfortably visit each other at their Earth homes and interact with their parents, even having to sometimes wake the other up so they aren't late to class. Travis always makes sure to keep Rose in check, and although he makes his own snarky side-comments about Rose's flamboyant personality, he does care for her deeply.

Astoria Rapunzel[]

Astoria is Travis' grade-obsessed classmate and team mate. Initially when he found out he was going to be on the same team as her, Travis grumbled about being on the "nerd-girl" team. This resulted in Astoria's hair unlatching a pillar, intending to crush Travis and his insensitive remarks, but only ends up with him catching it and being unharmed thanks to his Beast-strength. Throughout the show they become closer friends, always seen with each other and their team mates.

Hawk SnowWhite[]

Travis and Hawk are the only male main characters in the team. Because of this, they tend to gravitate to one another during class or royal balls. While Hawk is the charming, prince-ly boy who hogs all of the princesses' attention, he does express envy towards Travis inability to woo girls. Despite Travis' best efforts in attempting to win over the attention of girls at school, he never succeeds, and Hawk's finds this dilemma of his almost like a dream.

Joy LeFrog[]

Travis and Joy are friends and in the same team. Like many friends of Joy, Travis finds her a little odd because of her froggy side, but they both seem somewhat comfortable in each other’s company. They aren’t seen verbally interacting until “The Swan in Swan Lake” where Travis sniffs a Purple Stink-Lily and it sprays him with a vile smelling gas, to which Joy responds by saying “Aww, it likes you!" which results in Travis having a sour face.

LingLing IronFan[]

LingLing and Travis become acquainted with one another in Season 1's episode "The Legendary IronFan" where Travis marvels at LingLing's rare brush made from glamour-weasel hair, an indication of Travis' established enthusiasm with anything related to art. Although earlier in the episode it is already depicted that Travis held feelings of attraction towards LingLing, noting that she is "super-skilled and super-cute." Their relationship, however, takes a break up until the later episode "Flowerpocalypse" where Travis aims to make LingLing fall in love with him with the help of a magical flower, but by the end of the episode and after a duet song between LingLing and Travis, he manages to find the courage to profess his feelings for LingLing who reciprocates the same feeling. (They are so girl boss and boy failure.)

History[]

Season 1[]

In "Rose's Fairy Tale Collection", it is revealed that Travis's parents knew he was attending Regal Academy unlike Rose.

Travis immediately falls in love with Ling Ling IronFan when she visits Regal Academy in "The Legendary IronFan". When Ling Ling beats all of Regal Academy's students at dragon archery, rather than being worried about losing his grade, Travis is awestruck at Ling Ling's talent. After Astoria tells him that Ling Ling's victory is bad for their team, he says in a lovestruck way, "Yeah...isn't it great?" He tries to walk over and talk to Ling Ling, but his foot gets stuck in the Cinderella Dragon's harness and he flies upside down in a display of his usual bad luck.

Later, Travis sees Ling Ling win at the other competitions and does nothing but marvel at her. Astoria reminds him that their goal is to win against her. Travis is up against Ling Ling for the javelin throwing competition. He responds to Astoria, "Okay, she's super skilled...and super cute...but she can't beat me at brute strength!" However, in the event, Travis's super strength allows him to throw his javelin around the entire globe,

Season 2[]

In "The Shadow Warrior", Travis is afraid that Ling Ling will be scared of his uncontrollable transformation into a hairy beast under the full moon. He even tells Hawk that he fears she will hate him for it. When the time comes for Travis's transformation, he runs off alone to calm himself down by painting the moon. Ling Ling asks her friends where he is, and Hawk tells her the truth about what happens to Travis. She goes off to find him, and sees him painting serenely on an oil canvas with werewolf-like fur all over him. Instead of being scared of Travis, Ling Ling can only focus on the beauty of his painting of the moon. She tells Travis how wonderful it is, and how amazing she thinks he is, showing how strong and pure their love is. They hold hands under the stars.

Magical Abilities[]

Travis possesses the powers of:

  • Fury Magic: Allows him to create whirlwinds and tornadoes.
  • Super Strength: Which he inherited from his grandfather as being a Beast.
  • Burrito Hair: He is able to grow burritos in his hair.

Trivia[]

  • His signature color is red. The backgrounds during his transformation sequences, his casual outfit, and his season two armor are all red.
  • "Travis" is an English name that derive from the old french traverser.[1][2]
  • Like every beast, he has the superhuman ability to lift extraordinarily heavy weights.
  • His catchphrase is "Bad luck Beast!"
  • His magic pet is a squirrel named Nut. Unlike Nut's unfortunate owner, he actually garners a lot of attention from princesses for being a cute squirrel.
  • In the masquerade ball, it is revealed that he has a cousin named Shawn.
  • In The Dark Dragon he wanted to help Gregory in the competition, so Gregory can become a sandwich artist.
  • While Travis is relentlessly teased and thought to be called "Burrito Hair" by the school population, Rose eventually debunks this by the end of the episode "The Bad Wolf's Great Fall" where she admits she and Joy were only teasing him. Although he does have burritos (tacos, more specifically) in his hair... for some reason.
  • Travis is shown to have talent in art (sculpting, sketching, painting, etc.) though not a lot of people are impressed by this skill of his, especially his grandmother, Professor Beauty, whose critiques lower his confidence. The only other person who seems to truly appreciate his skills are LingLing and Rose.
